DIY Floor Cleaner with Kirks 3-in 1 Nourishing Cleanser

One thing I really enjoy doing is making our own household products.   I have the blessing of knowing exactly what's in them from the soaps to the fragrances. And of course saving a little bit of cash and a trip into town doesn't hurt either.

 I've been making my own laundry soap for about 6 or 7 years now.  Last week I updated the  DIY Washing Soda recipe because we were even out of that and I really REALLY didn't want to drive into town.  With 6 in the house, we do at least a load a day, sometimes two.. It's crazy!

This week, I've had the opportunity to utilize Kirk's 3-in-1 Head to Toe Nourishing Cleanser to make a couple of other necessary products, including Tile Floor Cleaner & Dish Washing Soap so I thought I would share those with recipes with you also.

With Baby Kolton starting to crawl and move all over the place, I've been a little more conscious with the condition of our floors and the cleaners we use. Everything goes in his mouth... Time to baby proof the house for sure! I've been working on it little by little....

I don't want to say cleaners are a part of "Baby Proofing" but "Baby Preparing".  Some cleaning chemicals can leave behind residue which can actually harm small children and pets.  I remember years and years ago, (probably close to 20 by now) there was a floor cleaner that even once dried the residue being picked up on pets paws and getting into their bloodstream making them sick.  If cleaners can be picked up by dry paws, just imagine what can be picked up by wet slobbery hands and knees....   It's definitely time to re-evaluate our cleaning cupboards.

Kirks is here to stay!  Check out the "Free of" picture!  Among several of other additives,  there's no artificial fragrances but  I still love the crisp cool scent.  Oh and no added coloring...   Kirks arrived just in time because I had used the boys "High dollar" soaps for a couple of days and that really got me thinking, Why do we need to dye ourselves blue in the shower to think we're clean? Seriously!  I feel like a smurf when I use their "sexy body wash".  And why's body wash have to be "sexy".... Ugh I hate advertisements sometimes.... Kirk's is simple, clean, and free of all that crap. Kirk's is here to stay!

I think it's neat that the company has been family owned since 1839 too!  They must be doing something right to be in business, without sell-out for almost 100 years!

 So on with that recipe for floor cleaner from Kirk's Website;

DIY Homemade Floor Cleaner

Directions
1. Combine of ¼ cup Kirk’s 3 in 1 head to toe cleaner, 2 gallons warm water and ¼ cup distilled white vinegar in a bucket.
2. Mop with a sponge mop or microfiber cloth attached to an electrostatic mop.
3. Rinse out mop or microfiber cloth often.

Add your favorite essential oil for added fragrance. We recommend Lemon!

There you have it! Floor cleaner couldn't be any easier to make! I did cut the recipe down when I made it.  I used only one gallon of water so it was easier to store, (and I didn't risk hubby drinking it...) But we have a refillable mop and I don't use 2 whole gallons at once.  It's your preference!

I'll be posting the dish soap here shortly so watch for updates!

Until then, be sure to check out Kirk's and their other products at the following links;
